My diamond ring in the rubbish chute

SUNDAY 24th JUNE 2007

My mum accidentally threw away my beloved diamond (3 in a row) ring into the rubbish chute.

I went home for lunch as usual on Sunday. Sister came over to the dining table to chit chat with me… she took out my ring from my finger just for fun.

The poor little ring was left on the table on the newspaper.

Mum wrapped the newspaper up and threw it in the chute beside its dirty with oil stains….

My family went out to collect mum’s dress for my wedding (this is when I realize I left my ring @ home), then after we head to Tiong Bahru for dessert.

When I reach home, we looked for the ring and realize that my smart mum threw it away. So why did she not see my ring?! She thought that it was a coke can ring and so she didn’t bother about it. She actually saw it! If she could just pick it up and see what it was, this wouldn’t happen. That’s the thing about assumptions! Like I always tell mk, never assume!

My family went down to the rubbish chute to TRY to find my ring…

When they open the rubbish chute door, my 1st reaction was… “Is this happening for real?”, 2nd reaction was WTF so much rubbish. I know it’s beyond salvage. My whole heart sank… I couldn’t breathe for a second and was so speechless. I hide under my pillow for hours.
